Yeah. Statue of Liberty was gifted by France to USA. A relatively less known history.

Interesting, wonder how Lonely Planet missed this out. Wish I'd known this when we went to Paris.
@Chaitanya: If not this you surely must have come across the other statue of liberty that stands near one of the bridges on river Siene.
