The Election day and I couldn't vote!!!!!

Today I was all set to go sharp at 8.00 o'clock and cast my vote. Once I am done with my duty, I was free to do some personal work before I join my services back in the second half.
But things never happen the way we plan it.
For the first time, none of the political parties visited and campaigned in our society.
Secondly, no election commission member visited our society.
Then today morning on asking my neighbors, I found out that no body no where is the polling center for our ward.
So, I decided to find it out on my own.
Me and my father then visited a near by hall which was our polling center last time for Vidhan Sabha elections.
But this time it wasn't.
So we asked a commando patrolling there about various polling centers in the region.
We started from the nearest polling center.
Checked through all the list, but our name was not present there.
The fellow there suggested another center.
Same story repeated at second center.
This way we went through all the 4 polling centers to listen the same answer.
After nearly 2 hrs efforts, we gave up and finally decided to return home. Once back home, we tried collecting information from neighbors, if at all any body managed to vote.
But to our surprise, none of the resident of the society were successful.
I just wonder, how our election commission works. There is no synchronization, no proper management.
NO proper information was available.
Till yesterday I was even unaware who all the candidates contesting from our region and worse what region we belong to!!!!
I even wonder how even the political parties are sluggish and why did they avoided to campaign at our place.
One way it was good, since we were not troubled by unnecessary speeches/noises.
At the end of day, I failed to vote.
In a way it is good because I was not mentally prepared to vote to any body and just wanted to use my power of voting. So this way I found out a route to escape.
But I would like to ask the people of jaagore.com and Amir Khan and similar other fellows who insist us to cast vote, if there is any way we can sort out this problem of mismanagement?
Even though I am registered voter, carry voter ID, have all the details about my ward, my number in the list, but still can't find my name in the list, can I vote?
I think in addition to wake up people to go and cast vote, its time to wake up the people of election commission to make proper and minimum arrangements necessary for fair elections.

P.S: Just now somebody told on phone that there is a site which can tell you your polling booth. But he doesn't remember the name of the site.
I guess it is jaagore.com. But it seem to be a bit tedious. In addition it also requires your Voter ID number that I do not have.
Any way I will try getting it. Still some time is left for voting. Hope for the best!!!

P.S: I found out my voting booth. Surprisingly I did visited that booth in the morning but couldn't find my name in the list. Anyways, better vote next time. By the way I could find out my polling booth through jaagore.com but what about those who have no access to internet? How can they find it out?

Elections!!!

There is a link http://www.nationalelectionwatch.org that was promoted in view that it details all the records of the candidates in elections. Amir Khan is one of the big name connected to this link.
May be I understood the related advertisements wrong. The page I guessed was supposed to highlight the criminal records of all the candidates in the present election. Atleast that was the picture I made in my mind.
I tried checking this page and was disappointed. Contrary to what image I had, the page just gives the information of the MPs elected in 2004 election and some details about them.
On their Home page they say:
The purpose of this site is several fold:
Give information on the elected representatives – everything that they give in their affidavits.
Give information about a constituency – various human development index parameters.
Give a chance to the general public to give comments on work done by their elected representatives.
Rate various representatives based on peoples’ comments and improvement shown in their constituency during their tenure, etc.
Feed this feedback back to your elected representative, so that he has a chance to work on the feedback received from his constituency.
Now I do not understand the basic needs of these agendas.
* Why do we now need to know the details fo the candidates elected in 2004?
It might be useful only if they are recontesting the elections. What if the then elected candidate is not contesting election this time?
What if the then candidate was a criminal but has now totally changed or a vice versa case?

* My personal experience says that the information highlighted on web pages are too different from what we actually have. The developmental parameters are set on different levels. Just for example, the wide roads construction was supposed to over long back as per the written on papers, but in reality it never happened. Since last 3 years the roads are under construction. Do not what is wrong, but for last 5-6 days the work has picked up a pace and possibly we will see the ful road constructed very soon. Seems its the charisma of elections. I just wish these elections comes every year or may twice a year.

* What is a point in commenting here over candidates work done. Are the candidates going to read these comments and try following our suggestions? Shouldn't this service be available all round their service tenure where they get a chance to understand. IN last minutes before elections this service keeps no sense.

In totality this web page does not prove to be of any help to me.
But just now, I found out something which actually should be the highlight of the webpage.
If you go to recent news, then you might find a link that actually forwards you to a link which details all the information regarding present candidates. These people doesn't realised to highlight the link, but I will do so. The link is http://myneta.info/
Click on this link and you will get all the information regarding candidates party, his personal assets, his criminal records and many more information.
After checking this link, now I am in dilemma, whether I should vote or not!!!!
The candidate I had in mind (accepted considering the national interest with out knowing candidates background) seem to be a high profile criminal with very low level of literacy.
Now he has only one strong opponent. But no records available about him.
In such a situation should I go for voting?
I will go for voting. But their is another reason.
Our comapny is giving half day off to attend voting. Now if I do not vote, taking half day off will be difficult. I have few other things to take care. SO I will vote to somebody who definitely won't win, and use rest of the time for my personal work.
This is my take. Whats your take?

Recession strikes!!!

Today for the first time I met a victim of present recession.
I have been hearing about the pink slips being given, lay offs from big companies and all such news since a long time. Thank fully it hasn't happened with me yet. And till date I was fortunate not to face any face carrying any such news.
In my present campus, I found two companies closing their offices. That was just giving a hint how hard this recession is hitting.
And today I met a guy who I recently started talking to.
A guy from the neighboring office.
He some times approach me for small help.
Today again he approached me. I was expecting to hear some new silly problem he is facing.
On the contrary, he just cam to tell me that tomorrow is his last day in the company.
He is being on compulsory leave for next 3 months. He has been advised to search for a new job in the mean time. By chance if a project comes to the company, then he might be able to rejoin his duties. Other wise after 3 months he will be relieved from the company.
And he is not a fresher or a trained who recently joined. He holds a senior position in the company.
The company required to remove few senior as well as some junior employees. And unfortunately it was his number.
Life is again uncertain.
With present situation, he hadly see any chance of getting other job (at least so easily)
But he looked cool.
Seems he had prepared for it long back.
He might be having his own new ideas to work out.
DO not know whats running in his mind and what will be his future.
But this has made me cautious about the present situation.
I just hope I do not meet any more people landing into such a situation including myself.

Kaziranga tiger shot dead while feeding on forest dweller

Now here is a news which I am finding difficult to comment on.
Even after almost 15 days I could not make who was right and who was wrong?
Title is “Kaziranga tiger shot dead while feeding on forest dweller” published in Times of india dated March 24, 2009.
To cut the story short:
A tiger (old to his age, finding difficult to get the preyin jungle) moves out of Kaziranga to near by village and attacks a villager. He enjoys his newly tasted human blood and is now hiding somewhere near by.
Villagers are angry and scared for last few weeks and finally decided to go in search of tiger to kill him.
In the mean time the forest department become active and get into the act of catching lion alive.
After few days of search they finally meet him sitting in a bamboo grove.
The news spread in air very quickly and sooner a large mob was around the bamboo grove.
Being in mob, people were hyper active and more interested in killing the beast.
The police and the forest department were struggling to manage the mob and tranquillizing the tiger.
The mob finally went berserk and a group tried getting closer and attacking the tiger.
Though old he was still a tiger. But people realized it a bit late. Inspite of ~1000 people surrounding him and getting closer he showed the courage and just in a fraction of seconds pounced and ripped off a chunk of a guy's neck. The man was dead, victim of overconfidence.
The atmosphere turned suddenly and was filled with anger and fear.
The mob went totally out of control.
Policemen tried controlling and shot some 20 aimless rounds. So aimless that one bullet hit the Wildlife Trust of India (WTI) veterinarian himself who had arrived to tranquillize the tiger!!!
Now it was time for the tiger to go berserk. He came out of the bamboo grove and attacked a policeman.
In the mean time an aimless bullet hit the tiger and the story was over.

Now I am wondering where things went wrong?
Is it wrong on tiger's part to become old enough not to be able to find a prey in jungle?
Is it wrong on People's part to try to overcome the fear of sudden attack by tiger?
Is it wrong on policemen's part not to be able to control a huge mob of 1000 people?
Is it wrong on forest department's part not to be able to tranquillize tiger quickly?
What would have if forest department would have managed to tranquilize the tiger.
Would they have managed to take the tiger out safely through an angry mob of 1000 people?
Had the tiger forgotten the taste of human flesh and would have started living happily within the limits of jungle?
How long would he have manged to survive?
How much useful it would have been to save and keep such an old maneater tiger in zoos?
Why it took so many weeks for the forest department to get ready and catch the tiger?
Had they tried it at earlier stage, might be things would have been different.
Or did they tried earlier but not so seriously?
I am still working on the problem.
Guessing who was at fault!!!
If you get the answer lets talk!!
